It addresses a public service obligation that is not adequately met by the current market due to Brexit. Specific EU Funds - The projects aligns with other specific EU funds such as the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) aim to strengthen economic and social cohesion and promote targeted infrastructure investment at the EU level. Economic Rationale and Market Failure Market Failure Analysis - The reliance on the UK Landbridge has led to inefficiencies and disruptions in Ireland's airfreight model post-Brexit. The Cargo Airbridge is a response to this market failure, offering an alternative route that removes these inefficiencies. Economic Impact Assessment - The project is expected to maintain Ireland's FDI attractiveness, enhance Northern Ireland’s FDI attractiveness whilst further aligning Northern Ireland with the EU single market for goods and EU law for trade as per the Windsor Framework agreement, support local businesses, and contribute to the overall economic resilience against Brexit-induced disruptions. Communication Activities: Engaging with EU policy makers to provide expertise on cargo transportation challenges and solutions under the new Brexit arrangements. - Participating in public consultations related to transportation and customs regulations. - Advocating for streamlined procedures to enhance the Cargo AirBridge efficiency - Preparing position papers, amendments, surveys, open letters and other communication or information material and carrying out research.

Info Members: Kieran O’Callaghan started his career as a freight forwarder in 1981 working in Ireland and abroad in leading senior management positions becoming Chief Executive Officer and majority shareholder in one of Ireland's leading freight forwarding companies ‘International Cargo Services’ ICS established as a start up by Kieran in 1996 - in 2009 the business was subject to a merger & acquisition, Kieran stepped down as CEO remaining as advisor and consultant for 10 years as part of the M&A agreement - since Kieran has worked full time researching and advocating for the Cargo AirBridge project. ICS was a member or affiliated to most professional industry organisations under his leadership e.g., IIFFA, IATA, ICAO, CASS etc.
