Mission & Interests
Goals: The Buildings Performance Institute Europe (BPIE) is a not-for-profit think-tank with a focus on independent analysis and knowledge dissemination, supporting evidence-based policy making in the field of energy performance in buildings, throughout Europe and beyond. BPIE is convinced that the building sector can reduce its greenhouse gas emissions to zero, by investing in high efficiency solutions, securing renewable energy supply for heating, cooling and electricity, and by establishing a circular economy in the construction sector. The organisation’s advice and analysis are sought and respected by entities which have the power, political clout and will to create a sustainable and low-carbon built environment. Its knowledge and expertise are used by global institutions, national decision makers and local public authorities alike. Industry and civil society are using its analysis to support their arguments for a low-carbon and high efficiency transformation of the built environment.
