Mission & Interests

Goals: The Brazilian Tree Industry (Ibá) is the association responsible for institutionally representing the planted tree production chain with its main stakeholders. In order to add value to products derived from plantations of pine, eucalyptus, and other species planted for industrial purposes, Ibá works to defend of the interests of the sector with authorities and government agencies, entities from the planted tree production chain, and significant sectors of the economy, environmental organizations and the press – in Brazil and internationally. Ibá strives to make the sector more competitive, bringing member companies into line with the highest standards of science, technology, and environmental responsibility throughout the entire forest production chain, in the search for innovative solutions for the Brazilian and global markets. Competitiveness, sustainability, innovation, and responsibility are the ethical values and principles that guide Ibá’s daily activities.

Main EU Legislative Proposals: Initially, we would like to target future legislations regarding "Deforestation and forest degradation" and "Carbon border adjustment mechanism". Complementary Information: Although three people on our staff are responsible for carrying out activities regarding the European Union, we currently do not have a person outside Brazil. Therefore, our estimated cost of operation seems low but it is because we rarely interact with the UE in person. Most interactions are online (e.g. responding to a Public Consultation).
