Mission & Interests
Goals: Best for Britain is a not-for-profit campaign organisation fixing the problems Britain faces after Brexit. We conduct polling to help politicians lead debate, not follow it. We design policy for whoever is in government, today or tomorrow. And we give voters the tools to speak to, and persuade, those in power.
We work with UK MPs from all parties and people across politics who share our belief that British jobs, investment and businesses all benefit from the UK having strong internationalist links, and the ability for free trade and goods, services, people and ideas to move in a frictionless way across borders.
We act as secretariat for the UK Trade and Business Commission which is made up of MPs from every party represented in the UK Parliament and representatives from business and trade sectors. The Commission takes evidence relating to the UK's approach to trade, diplomacy and internal markets.

Activities
Main EU Legislative Proposals: Best for Britain primarily seeks to influence EU policy development with regards to UK-EU relations. Best for Britain seeks to fix the problems Britain faces after Brexit and so, while the main target for legislative change is domestic UK legislation, Best for Britain is seeking to influence the EU towards further and better cooperation with the UK. Particular targets for Best for Britain include:
- the 2025/26 TCA review
- REGULATION (EU) 2023/956 OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL of 10 May 2023 - this is with a view to achieving alignment between the UK's proposed CBAM and the existing and developing EU CBAM
- The pursuit of SPS alignment/equivalence with the EU leading to a workable agreement - this lobbying on the EU side would largely seek to persuade the EU to grant equivalence in the case that the UK aligns on SPS
- The pursuit of an extension to the UK's temporary financial services equivalence for clearing, and for a revival (more permanent) of the Temporary Permissions Regime for passporting
- The pursuit of mutual recognition of professional qualifications
- The pursuit of mutual recognition of conformity testing houses to enable higher level CE certification to take place in the UK
- Pursuit of mutual recognition of batch testing with the EU
- Pursuit of increased recognition for UK regulators within the EU
Communication Activities: Research, policy development, polling, public relations and events (parliamentary & press conferences).
