Mission & Interests
Goals: The aim of BEAMA is to represent the ‘Asset Management’ profession, to develop the ‘Asset Management’ activities in Belgium and to improve the image of this association and its members, without jeopardizing the autonomy of its members.
‘Asset Management’ covers, among other things, the promotion, management, distribution and administrative processing of collective investment instruments as well as the institutional management, the management on behalf of private customers and investment advice.
BEAMA can act proactively towards the Belgian public authorities and/or the European or supranational institutions, under those terms of reference. BEAMA will also follow up the preparations for the drafting of laws, regulations and decrees on Asset Management in Belgium, at the Belgian, European and international level.

Main EU Legislative Proposals: Relevant policy regulations such as: SFDR, UCITS, AIFMD, MiFID/MiFIR, ESA supervisory competences.
Relevant topics cover also : CMU-Plan, Sustainable Finance, Protection of retail investors, Fair competition.
More generally, the EU Treaties and Trade agreements (e.g. with the EEA countries, with the UK); also relations of the EU with third countries (especially with relevance to the financial business centres, such as UK, Switzerland, Japan, Singapore ...)
Communication Activities: As a national industry branch organization, we publish on a regular basis:
- newsletters & general communications to our members;
- a yearly report on regulatory developments in the AM-sector, including also a statistical section.
Concerning policy implementation, we advice our members in the event of new regulations, modifications, and technical recommendations (IT-processing; how to register for official websites etc.). We have the support in doing so of working groups within the national association.
