Mission & Interests
Goals: BC3’s Strategy Plan aimed: (a) to integrate the environmental, socioeconomic and ethical dimensions of climate change; (b) to provide knowledge, tools, new methodologies to lead towards co-production; c) to produce multi and trans-disciplinary knowledge relevant to decision making to mitigate and adapt to climate change and sustainable development, at different levels. The BC3 Strategic Plan operates on the basis of its six Scientific Objectives (SOs): SO1-Understanding past and future climate changes; SO2-Support decision making in the transition to a low carbon society; SO3-Understanding and managing terrestrial systems for sustainability; SO4-Support decision making for successful and effective adaptation; SO5-Integrated modelling of coupled human-natural systems; SO6-Promoting integrated interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research.

Communication Activities: BC3 has been leading the development of microeconomic tool to analyse the social impacts of the new Energy Taxation Directive, the extension of the Emissions Trading System (ETS2) on road transport and buildings and the new Social Climate Fund (SCF) proposed by the European Commission in the context of the Fit for 55 package. This work is part of a project developed jointly with Think2030, a non-partisan platform of leading European think tanks, and funded by LAUDES Foundation.

Complementary Information: (1)The amortization of the infrastructures is not included in the budget, either Financial expenditures
(2) The information on the amount per contributor is provided following the guidelines. The amount per contributor reflects the sum of all the grants received from that contributor being the most of them competitive funding.
(3) EU GRANTs are also included by programs, such as, INTERREG, LIFE, H2020... We don't reflect the grant agreement amount but the annual expenditure/income justified and audited.
(4) The current financial year 2024 is not closed yet so the numbers are just an estimation as per the closure of APRIL2024.
(5) In d) section only appear grants and that sums 1020042€, the difference compared to b) section is due to the 2 contracts that we have with EU
