Mission & Interests

Goals: The object of the “ASSOCIATION OF EMBRYO TECHNOLOGY IN EUROPE” is to facilitate the diffusion and application of knowledge relative to embryo transfer in mammals by creating a forum for the exchange of scientific, technical and practical information at a European level and by organising regular meetings encouraging everyone to participate: teachers, scientists, practitioners, technicians and students. Moreover the “ASSOCIATION OF EMBRYO TECHNOLOGY IN EUROPE” aims to establish European technological solidarity, favourable to international exchange of embryos, by creating study groups and by striving to become a body to whom European veterinary and agricultural authorities may make proposals, and seek consultation.

Communication Activities: -AETE Annual Meeting in Heraklion, Crete on 7-8 September 2023: Workshop on "Animal welfare in Assisted Reproductive Technologies" Chaired by Pascal Salvetti, Eliance and Hélène Quinton, Synetics, France Ana Granados Chapatte, EFFAB, Belgium & Eva Sossidou, Hellenic Agricultural Organization-Demeter, Greece & Alline De Paula Reis, Ecole Nationale Vétérinaire d'Alfort, France: Animal welfare context and consequences on embryo technologies business. Pascal Salvetti, Eliance, France & Fritz Beyer, Institute for Reproduction of Farm Animals Schönow, Germany: How professionals react and take into account these aspects. -During the year, AETE members have been actively involved in discussion and collaborated with IETS, where the Health and Safety Advisory Committee is currently preparing a white paper on the safety of international trade of in vitro produced livestock embryos. This paper, after publishing, can and should serve as a resource for regulative authorities, and contain the most recent evidence on the risks associated with embryo trade.
