La normalisation en France et sa promotion sont assurées par AFNOR et les organismes délégués par AFNOR et agrées par le Ministère chargé de l’industrie comme bureaux de normalisation sectoriels. Activities

Main EU Legislative Proposals: Standardization activities are closely linked to regulation and European policy. European Commission publishes regularly request for standards, in relation with the EU standardization strategy. Standardization activities are supervised by Regulation (EU) No 1025/2012 of the European Parliament and of the Council (https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/FR/TXT/?qid=1414068508676&uri=CELEX:32012R1025) Morevoer, standardization is covered by the New Legislative framework (NLF) that aim to improve market surveillance and boost the quality of conformity assessments. It also clarifies the use of CE marking and creates a toolbox of measures for use in product legislation (https://ec.europa.eu/growth/single-market/goods/new-legislative-framework_en). Through the NLF, the main objective of the Commission is to bring product harmonisation legislation in line with the reference provisions of Decision 768/2008/EC. 23 directives and regulations were aligned with, or based on, these reference provisions (https://ec.europa.eu/growth/single-market/goods/new-legislative-framework_en) There exist European standardization organisations (CEN, CENELEC and ETSI) where AFNOR is strongly engaged. AFNOR is one of the founding member of these European organisations. AFNOR is member of their councils boards to contribute to governance and strategic orientations. AFNOR provides, through the principle of national delegations, technical support in the technical fields.
