Mission & Interests

Goals: We are a think-tank founded in 2006 at the Faculty of Political Science at Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj, Romania. The Center engages in research projects and analyses from a comparative perspective with a solid practical component on issues such as democratization, migration, ethnicity, civic education, electoral behaviour, and institutional design. Our collaborations reach institutions such as the Presidential Administration, the Romanian Parliament, local administrative institutions and organizations within civil society. We are also engaged in European Horizons, activities with partners like EUKI, EPAH, European Climate Foundation, Oko Institute etc. Our goals include infusing civil society with education on overcoming energy poverty, accessing human rights and good political decisions, but also infusing policymakers and relevant national & international stakeholders with policy recommendations on those matters.

Activities

Main EU Legislative Proposals: EU FIT For 55 and The ETS II Package with the project Facilitating socially just carbon pricing policies in Central and Eastern Europe - https://www.euki.de/en/euki-projects/just-carbon-pricing/ - 3 policy briefs/ policy recommendation will be targeting the EU institution on the matter of just carbon taxation on ETS II, also a country report, Legislation on Energy Poverty - as a partner in ENCHANT 2020 Horizon – Behavioural science for fast energy efficiency interventions - https://enchant-project.eu, we aim to bring knowledge on energy behaviour and energy poverty in the form of policy recommendations, We are the founders of The Romanian Energy Poverty Observatory - https://saracie-energetica.ro. We are also working in collaboration with EPAH in gathering a pool of experts on energy poverty to be able to propose good policy recommendations for the EU and our national policymakers.
