Mission & Interests

Goals: The main objectives of the Association are 1) to promote environmental sustainability by supporting the efficient use of water resources and promoting water reclamation and reuse as an essential component of water resources management; 2) to sponsor the development and dissemination of current scientific knowledge and technological advances on water reclamation and reuse, and 3) to encourage collaboration among national and international institutional for the development of efficient technological solutions and specific regulations for water reclamation and reuse in Spain and the European Union.

Activities

Main EU Legislative Proposals: 1) Organization of seventeen Open Webinar series in 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 covering national and international initiatives, projects, and regulations on water reclamation and reuse for non-potable and potable applications. 2) Participation in Project H2020 SuWaNu Europe, "Network for effective knowledge transfer on safe and economical wastewater reuse in agriculture in Europe," coordinated by BioAzul, from January 2019 to March 2020. 3) Development of risk management plans as required by the new EU Regulations for agricultural irrigation with reclaimed water. 4) EC Work on Water Reuse Stakeholders meeting - a follow-up to public consultation, December 4th, 2014. 5) Optimizing water reuse in the EU Framework contract ENV.D.I/FRA/2012/0014 Preliminary study findings December 4th, 2014. 6) R3Water 1st Cross-cutting issue workshop. Potential application fields for innovative wastewater treatment technologies, "December 1st, 2014.

Complementary Information: ASERSA activities are supported by full-time pro bono contributions from its Executive Committee members. ASERSA headquarters office is located in our Secretary's residence. Expenses for the operation and maintenance of ASERSA, such as web hosting, web maintenance, webinars platform support (our webinars are free), and accounting services, represent an annual expense slightly higher than 10.000 euros. We confirm that our total operating costs are 8500 euros for the fiscal year 2023. We HAVE NOT office expenses. We HAVE NOT any paid employees. Our executive committee members operate on a PRO BONO basis.

Info Members: ASERSA operates under the pro bono contributions of its five (5) Executive Committee members, particularly the President, the Secretary, and the Treasurer, with NO EXPENSES for office space or employees. The Association statuses preclude direct or indirect monetary compensations to Executive Committee members. Our expenses are related to external accounting services and regular operating services (webpage hosting, webinars organization, phone, and printing). Coordination tasks are conducted by the President, the Secretary, and the Treasurer of the Association, with the assistance of external accounting services. Numerous presentations on the regulatory, planning, economic, technical, and public perception issues related to water reclamation and reuse at national and regional Workshops, Conferences, and Courses.
