Goals: Apimondia exists to promote scientific, technical, ecological, social and economic apicultural development in all countries and the cooperation of beekeepers’ associations, scientific bodies and individuals involved in apiculture worldwide. Activities

Main EU Legislative Proposals: Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2022/2292 of 6 September 2022 supplementing Regulation (EU) 2017/625 of the European Parliament and of the Council with regard to requirements for the entry into the Union of consignments of food-producing animals and certain goods intended for human consumption. The list of operators exporting honey to the EU must be included in a specific list. Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2022/36 of 11 January 2022 amending Annex III to Implementing Regulation (EU) 2020/2235 as regards model certificates for the entry into the Union of consignments of certain live aquatic animals and products of animal origin. Annex III to Implementing Regulation (EU) 2020/2235 lays down, in Chapter45, the model official certificate for the entry into the Union of honey and other beekeeping products intended for human consumption (model HON). In order to ensure the authenticity of such consignments, the guarantees should be improved by aligning them with certain rules laid down in Council Directive 2001/110/EC. It is therefore appropriate to amend this model accordingly. Honey Directive 2001/110 within the review of the Breakfast Directives A lot of contacts and meetings with DG Agri, perm Rep of the Council, MEP of Com Agri and of Com Envi to arrive to finalized the final version. Proposal of points Traceability - with a block-chain system No longer allow filtered honeys- (mesh size min 100 µm) Prohibiting dehydration in vacuums Authorize the identification of unheated honeys (virgin honey, raw honey, etc.) based on invertase index (min 50 U/kg and 25 U/kg for low level of enzymes) Setting up a European reference laboratory and work on amendments (262 Con AGRI and 318 Com Envi) Project Harm Honey of the JRC with a first meeting
Communication Activities: Apimondia was involved in the celebration of the World Bee Day 2023 within the United Nations' system, held virtually at FAO headquarters in Rome on 19 May 2023 and is currently organising with FAO the 2024 edition. Apimondia is organising the 49th International Apicultural Congress that will be held in Copenhagen, Denmark in September 2025 with a foreseen attendance of over 7,000 participants from around the world. Moreover, in June 2024 Apimondia will organise the Symposium on Bee Health in Madrid, Spain. Among the other activities, Apimondia presented the salient features of the new Honey Directive 2001/110/EC at the Apiscandia event held in Sweden in February 2024
