Goals: - To increase the respect for childhood as a basis for human development and to create awareness of the needs of all children. • To develop and inspire ideas for solutions to those problems which could endanger the good quality of childhood. • To provide a platform for contacts, inspiration, exchange, peer learning, encouragement and dialogue among policy makers, decision makers, researchers, practitioners, parents and all people that have an influence on children’s lives.

Activities

Main EU Legislative Proposals: Alliance For Childhood is active in the field of education and children rights in order to improve childhood in Europe. Therefore, EU policies and programmes of interest fall under the following Institutions and related activities: DG Education and Culture - European Education Area: particularly improving quality of education and well-being at school One of our members participates also at Working Group on early childhood education and care (ECEC) DG Employment and Social affairs - Child Guarantee - Youth Guarantee - European Care Strategy DG Justice and Consumers: - EU Child Rights Strategy DG Health A comprehensive approach on Mental Health At European Parliament, Alliance for Childhood follows the following legislative process and resolutions, particularly from the following Committees: EMPL : Child Guarantee , European Care Strategy LIBE and DROI: Child Rights Strategy implementation CULT: Early Childhood Education and Care and well-being at school Alliance collaborates also with the Intergroup of Child Rights at the European Parliament in the field of children participation, and to safeguard healthy and safe childhood
Communication Activities: Since 2006, Alliance organises the so called QoC- Talks - working group on improving quality of childhood, four times per year. These events are always held at the European Parliament hosted by one MEP who is active in the theme of the event. During the COVID pandemic, Alliance kept on running these events via Zoom but always supported by MEPs. In 2024, Alliances organised already 1 QoC - Talks, one on 5th March increasing attractiness of schools for youth. 3 more events are foreseen on July, October, December. Moreover, as member of different Civil society networks and stakeholders, Alliances for Childhood joins campaigns for upcoming EU elections.

Info Members: The Alliance for Childhood’s Secretariat composes of 3 persons who work mainly on volunteer basis. There is new Chairman since January 2022. One volunteer manages the daily activities as Managing Director of the Foundation. Since the autumn of 2020 one more person works part time in the secretariat as responsible of communication always as a volunteer.
