Mission & Interests

Goals: L’ACT-Alliance contre le tabac est une fédération d’associations de lutte contre le tabac engagée au service de la santé publique. Fondée en 1991 par le Pr. Maurice Tubiana à la suite de l’entrée en vigueur de la loi Evin dont il fût l’un des principaux artisans, l’ACT, lobby d’intérêt général, mène une politique engagée de prévention aux niveaux national et international à la faveur du renforcement du contrôle et de la dénormalisation du tabac. En tant que porte-parole de 23 membres associatifs majeurs dans la lutte contre le tabagisme sur tout le territoire national, l’ACT mène des campagnes de sensibilisation et de plaidoyer afin de peser sur le débat public pour défendre le bien-être de tous face aux intérêts d’une industrie mortifère redoublant d’efforts pour vendre ses produits addictifs. Activities

Main EU Legislative Proposals: Willing to watch the good implementation of the CCLAT on Tobacco control at the UE level. --> Main Targets : DIRECTIVE 2014/40/EU OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL of 3 April 2014 on the approximation of the laws, regulations and administrative provisions of the Member States concerning the manufacture, presentation and sale of tobacco and related products and repealing - Directive 2001/37/EC COUNCIL DIRECTIVE 2011/64/EU of 21 June 2011 on the structure and rates of excise duty applied to manufactured tobacco
Communication Activities: We have sent several position papers on tobacco regulation and new nicotine products to the European Commission and members of the European Parliament. We have also taken part in a number of events, notably at the European Parliament.
