Goals: Access Info promotes and protects the right of access to information as a tool for defending human rights, democracy, and the rule of law, for advancing public participation in decision making, and for combatting corruption and holding power to account.
Access Info's mission is that the right of access to information be enshrined in law and work in practice. This includes the right of access to EU documents as established by Article 15 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union.

Activities
Main EU Legislative Proposals: The main policy areas and legislative files that Access Info follows are:
* Regulation 1049/2001 on access to EU documents (when relevant);
* Transparency of the EU institutions, including Council and Commission, including transparency of policy making and spending;
* Rules on the EU Transparency Register and related regulation of lobbying and transparency related to influence;
* The legislation related to transparency of EU Funds at EU and national level;
* Reform of the fishing control regulation with respect to transparency;
* The Open Data Directive and its implementing act;
* Legislative files that affect whistleblower protection, fight against corruption, money laundering rules, copyright, data protection, public procurement (transparency of), and media freedom.
Communication Activities: Relevant policy implementation, public relations and communication activities such as projects, events and publications:
* AsktheEU.org
- Access Info runs the https://www.AsktheEU.org website, an online platform where citizens can file access to documents requests to any EU institutions. All responses and requests are published online and in real-time. Access Info also regularly files information requests of our own.
* Transparency of the European Institutions (Council, Commission, Parliament) and other EU bodies and agencies with a specific focus on:
- ensuring an open legislative process
- promoting open decision making
- promoting good record keeping
- identifying and challenging procedural issues related to Regulation 1049/2001
- identifying and challenging overuse of exceptions
Access Info undertakes appeals, complaints to the European Ombudsman as well as legal challenges to the Court of Justice of the European Union.
