The European Mobility Group (EMG) is an international industry association representing companies that adapt vehicles for people with reduced mobility. Our mission is to enhance mobility, independence and inclusion.

The sector is undergoing significant transformation driven by new vehicle technologies, evolving regulations, and increasing international harmonisation. EMG is evolving into a more professional and impactful advocacy body.

The Opportunity

EMG seeks an independent Policy Manager on a flexible engagement basis.

This is a high-impact, mandate-driven role working closely with the EMG President and Board.

This is not a passive advisory role – we are looking for someone who actively shapes and drives EMG’s agenda.

The role suits a self-employed professional or consultant who operates independently and drives initiatives forward.

Purpose of the Engagement

  • Build presence in EU, national and international policy processes
  • Translate regulatory developments into actionable insights
  • Strengthen EMG’s role as an industry voice
  • Share meaningful information and insights to support member companies in their business activity
  • Help support continuous improvement in meeting the needs of people with reduced mobility

Scope of Work

Public Affairs & Policy Monitoring:

  • Monitor EU, national and international regulations
  • Represent EMG in meetings
  • Contribute to policy positions

Member Value:

  • Interpret regulations
  • Translate complexity into insights
  • Prepare briefings

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Develop key stakeholder relationships, especially within the EU and among disability organisations
  • Engage OEMs to ensure vehicle adaptability
  • Influence future vehicle development
  • Expand EMG visibility

Strategic & Operational Support:

  • Support strategic execution
  • Coordinate activities

Communication & Positioning:

  • Strengthen EMG communications content and channels
  • Prepare position papers
  • Collate relevant sector intelligence and seek opportunities to undertake new research

Profile – Required

  • Experience in public affairs and/or government relations
  • Understanding of European institutions
  • Independent and proactive
  • Strong analytical and communication skills in English
  • IT proficient

Profile – Desirable

  • Technical knowledge or background in vehicle legislation
  • Working knowledge of EU institutions
